Explore the magical Plitvice Lakes National park (UNESCO World Heritage) and the almost untouched beauty of this rural and unspoilt region. Far away from any busy lifestyle you can enjoy the fabulous and endless nature trails and maybe even see some wild animals.
The Plitvice trail is suitable for more experienced riders who are used to spend long days on horseback and enjoy long and fast gallops over vast open fields.
We usually start our ride after breakfast at aound 10am and will have short breaks and water stops before lunch. Over lunch breaks the horses are always turned away on the pasture land and set free to roll and graze and relax. And we too have a chance to chat or take a short nap!
This trail is for adventurous people, be prepared for good food and forward going horses!
Arrival during the day. In case you wish to visit the town of Split and the remains of the Diocletian Palace (over 1700 years old), or the little town of Trogir (both under UNESCO protection) we can also arrange transfer from town. Split is one of the biggest and most beautiful cities in Croatia with nice beaches. Once on the ranch you have the opportunity to get to know the other riders, horses and people. Dinner in the evening on the ranch.
After breakfast on the ranch we set off for a daily ride up to Mount Svilaja (1512m). There we enjoy a typically Croatian lunch near the top. After lunch you can either rest or climp up to the top of the mountain where there is a splendid panoramic view over the river Cetina and Peruca lake. Dinner and overnicht on ranch.
This day is important to familiarise yourself with your horse. If you feel you are not matched with the right horse you can change your horse before the start of the trail.
After breakfast the horses and riders are transported to Gracac (about 2.5 hours drive) where the trail begins. We ride through woods and fields in the direction of Udbina to a small hill where we have lunch. After we continue to Udbina with dinner and overnight on a small farm either in basic-style shared rooms or in tents. Often we get the chance to try some “domestic” plum schnapps – quite strong and definitely not for the faint-hearted!
After breakfast we start with a fast ride through long fields, often enjoying long trots and canters. Lunch place is in open country with fresh cooking. The afternoon ride leads through areas with beautiful landscape, lush pastures and small hills. Overnight in a hotel and dinner in the restaurant.
The short morning ride leads us towards the city of Korenica where we have early lunch and check in at a guesthouse for overnight. All afternoon is reserved for spending in the famous National Park of Plitvice Lakes. After being transported there you can explore on several stunning walks the natural wonders and beauty of Plitvice. Sixteen breathtaking lakes with crystal clear water joined by amazing waterfalls make this national park a unique experience. We return to the guesthouse and prepare for dinner in a restaurant.
After a tasty breakfast we start our morning ride and have the chance to swim with horses in a nearby lake. You should not miss this extraordinary experience! After we continue towards Mount Licka Pljesevica (1613m) where we enjoy lunch on the top of the mountain and let the horses enjoy their well-deserved relaxation. The afternoon ride leads through the forest-covered mountain, down forgotten cattle routes to the old farm where our hosts are waiting for us. We spend the night in tents or in a hay barn on the farm. Optional is guesthouse accommodation available (small extra charge).
After breakfast we leave the farm and make our way trotting and cantering through the fields. Lunchplace is on Mount Kremen, where the panoramic views can be enjoyed. The afternoon ride down the mountain leads us to the finish point where the horses are loaded in the truck and we start our drive back to the ranch. Last dinner and sleeping on the ranch.
After breakfast it's time to say goodbye and everybody prepares to leave.
Itineraries or accomodation may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances but we assure you that this ride will be a real adventure.
